BRISA

BRISA was founded on 1988 August 16th, as a means of fulfilling the companies,  governments and academy’s need of an entity devoted to promote the Information Technology and Cummunication open standards. During its first years, following the example of what was being done by related companies in the US, Europe and Japan, BRISA devoted itself to primarily promote the interoperationability of informatized systems and the education of users and suppliers on what concerns the necessary international standards for reaching such goal.

In the early 90s, the market reserve for the informatics law comes to an end in Brazil. In order to fulfill the new market needs, BRISA starts offering specialized technical services, with an original emphasis on technological consultancy and on data network projects. BRISA’s technical services soon spread, since then BRISA has played an important role on what concerns the most important events related to technology in our country, following the example (among hundreds of projects) of the first broadband internet service in Brazil, and the partnership which created the first applications for the SBTVD – Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital (Brazilian System of Digital TV). Some of the technological projects developed by BRISA even resulted in the creation of successful companies, such as AJATO, currently part of the Telefônica/TVA Group.

Concomitantly to the activities of projects and counselling, BRISA performed its first R&D project (Informatics Law) in 1994. From the year 2000 on, BRISA has created a structure devoted to R&D projects and counselling concerning the application of the Informatics Law, by having credentiated (by the Ministry of Science and Technology) its laboratories in Sao Paulo and Brasilia (the latter inserted in the North-Northeast-Middle-West regions – privileged by the Law). Nowadays, BRISA is one of the ten biggest R&D Institutes in the country, with an outstanding performance in the development and testing  of softwares  for cellphones and other electronic devices, as well as in the field of embarked software in several types of devices, such as telecommunication equipments, GPS locators, multifunctional printers, etc.

From that small organization in 1998, composed by 8 collaborators, remain the innovative sense, the obsession for quality and for fulfilling our customers’ needs, the instinct that makes us break the known limits.

Nowadays, after 21 years, due to its achieved success and non-stopping support from its customers, BRISA counts on more than 200 direct collaborators, and on operational bases in Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre.
